Your music is who you are and it influences and moves you. Then why would you listen to music on plain earbuds that come with your phone? High end earbuds can improve just about every aspect of you music. The bass, mid and treble ranges all become more accurate. One of the incredible parts about earbuds is in addition to offering great music, they can also isolate the sound to just you and can make the music the only thing you hear.
IEM’s or In Ear Monitors are generally accepted to be the best sounding earbud style. Unlike stock earbuds, these stick into your ear a little further and provide more natural isolation.
Budget Earbuds: Budget doesn’t have to mean bad anymore. These earbuds sit nicely in your ear and will meet the needs of the average consumer.
Xiaomi Pistons 2nd Edition: These are the revised version of the excellent 1st edition of these headphones, and now they are better. Audiophiles everywhere recognize these as fantastic IEMs and as a result they are very popular.
While increasing sound quality, they continue to look good and sit in your ear comfortably for long periods of time. They also come with different sizes of ear tips for customizability and a remote for accessibility.
MEElectronics M6 Sport-Fi: As seen in the above pictures these are very sleek professional looking gym earbuds. Offering 7 sets of ear tips there is sure to be a size that stay in your ear whether at home or on the move.
The metal wire is a noted nuisance to some, but users often find that they grow accustomed to it and sometimes even like it more. Additionally they are waterproof and sound awesome. An edition is available with a remote but it is slightly more expensive.
Monoprice 108320 Enhanced Bass Hi-Fi Earbuds: Recognized by audiophiles as the best deal under twenty dollars. Unfortunately they are ugly and many are turned off by this. Additionally, they need eartips because the stock eartips are terrible.
My personal favorite for these are the Comply eartips, but at fifteen dollars are more expensive than the earbuds themselves. Other tips can be found for cheaper that are good as well.
Mid Level Earbuds: These are taking music to the next level. Often times these do everything the budget earbuds do, but better. Special features are also found in these earbuds that are not found at the budget level earbuds.
Shure SE215: Hailed as excellent by listeners everywhere, these are a great step into elite level listening. boasting excellent isolation these take music to the next level and reveal otherwise hidden details. While sounding a little “dark” they are excellent for listening to all music.
The wire like the MEElectronics M6 goes around the ear but this becomes normal after some use. There are 6 tips to use and a replaceable kevlar cable (huge plus) that set this earbud into it’s own league of value for accessories.
MEElectronics M6 Pro: The big brother of the MEElectronics M6 these offer a lot of the same features of the Shure SE215 without having the cost. These also look slightly better than the Shure earbuds.
Music also sounds similar to the pair of Shures but the build quality isn’t quite as solid as the Shure (that is no insult to the MEElectronics). I still can recommend this earbud unconditionally.
Bose SoundTrue In-Ear Headphones :For the most style savvy mid-fi earbud, look at the Bose SoundTrue In-Ears. These offer good sound while being pleasing to the eye.
They offer elevated bass and treble and reduced mids similar to Beats headphones, but are slightly more tame. A worry with these has been build quality. The cable is relatively thin and is prone to breaking.
High End Earbuds: The pinnacle of in ear sound, these offer the best sound, at the sacrifice of cost. Short of having impressions taken of your ear for custom In Ear Monitors (CIEMs) these are the best level you are likely to find.
Instead of a model I’m going to go ahead and recommend the Shure SE In Ear series. There are several models ascending from the 215 to 315, 425, 535 and 846. Each progressive level offers better sound and/or accessories, but what you ultimately want is going to be up to you. I would recommend skipping the 315 and going to the 425 or higher if you are interested.
Sony XBA-40/S: With multiple drivers in each casing, these are truly designed to sound the best that they possibly can. Like a output speaker system, the individual parts of the music are broken up into drivers within the earbud.
Whether you are looking for the best pair of earbuds money can buy, or the best earbuds you can buy with your money, you are guaranteed to find an answer here.
